After trailing for 31 of the 32 minutes, Ketcham capitalized when it mattered most to lead them into the semifinals with a 57-54 victory over Marlboro.
Marlboro dominated early, holding an 18-9 lead after one quarter.
After opening the lead up to as many as 10, Ketcham made a switch to a 1-3-1 press which capitulated them on an 8-0 run to tie the game with under a minute to go in the first half. Marlboro held a two-point lead at the halftime break.
Marlboro came out of halftime firing, building up an eight-point lead almost immediately. But, each time the Dukes would gain a lead, Ketcham would build a comeback.
With 3:15 remaining, Marlboro held an eight-point lead. After multiple consecutive baskets from the Indians, they trailed by one with 53.7 seconds remaining.
Owen Paino was able to score a layup off an inbounds pass to give Ketcham its first lead of the game. He led all scorers with 24 points.
Marlboro turned it over on its next possession and then missed a 3-pointer that would’ve tied the game after two Ketcham free throws.
Ketcham ended the game on an 11-0 run.
Travis Delaney had 12 points for Ketcham.
For Marlboro, they were led by John Ryder who finished with 16 points. Prince Owens had 13.
Ketcham has advanced and will play the winner of Our Lady of Lourdes/John Jay - East Fishkill on Wednesday at 6 p.m.
Marlboro will face the loser of that matchup at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday.
